The Surface GO 4 Tablet will use the PD (Power Delivery) protocol to negotiate power pulled from a PD charger. The Single Charger and Gang Charger are PD-capable. However, to negotiate a fast charge between the tablet and a PD power supply, there must be communication. If the tablet is completely dead, it cannot communicate for a higher voltage/current. Therefore, it will default to a 5V and a low current. The tablet turns on, it will not negotiate PD and will charge very slowly.
For users with CT3138V2 using the Surface Go 4, we recommend going into the Control Panel of the Surface Go 4 and changing power settings to Low Power notification at 15% and Critical Power at 10% with Tablet turning off when reaching Critical Power. This will allow for charging at 5V in the CT3138V2 case.
- Open the Control Panel in Windows on the Surface Go 4. Go to Power Options, Advanced Settings:
- Change Low Battery level to 15%
- Change Critical Battery Level to 10%
- Change Critical Battery Action, On Battery to Shut Down.
