The most common issue occurs when cabinet doors are pushed beyond the resting closed position into an extreme closed position. This can cause misalignment that results in the slider lock jamming.
-
Resting Closed Position: Doors naturally rest after being pushed closed.
-
Most in-store cabinets are not perfect and will present non-parallel door edges. This can occur for several reasons. Including bent cabinets, poorly installed rollers, debris in tracks, etc.
-
Extreme Closed Position: Doors are forced further inward, often tilting.
In many in-store cabinets, misalignment may already exist due to factors such as:
-
Bent cabinet frames
-
Poorly installed rollers
-
Debris in sliding tracks

Application/Service: Slider Lock for Cabinet Doors
-
Version: All versions
-
Operating System: N/A
-
Browser (if applicable): N/A
-
Date/Time of Occurrence: Intermittent, typically during door slamming
-
User Role/Access Level: Installer, Maintenance Technician, Retail Staff
Steps to Reproduce
-
Close cabinet doors to the resting closed position.
-
Apply excessive force, pushing the doors into the extreme closed position.
-
Observe door tilt or shifting beyond normal alignment.
-
Attempt to unlock the slider lock.
-
Lock fails to disengage due to internal jamming.
Expected vs Actual Behavior
Expected Behavior:
The slider lock engages and disengages properly when the doors are in the resting closed position.
Actual Behavior:
When doors are forced too far, the locking pin enters the wrong hole in the striker plate. After pressure is released and the doors shift back slightly, the pin becomes jammed internally.
Root Cause
Forcing the doors into the extreme closed position causes the slider lock’s pin to engage with the wrong hole on the striker plate. When the door naturally settles back into the resting closed position, the pin becomes jammed and the motor is unable to retract it.
Solution / Workaround
To Un-Jam the Lock:
-
Remove and reinstall the batteries to reset the lock (if unresponsive).
-
Send an unlock command.
-
Immediately push the doors firmly into the extreme closed position to relieve the jam.
-
Quickly slide the doors into the open position.
-
If done too slowly, you may need to repeat the unlock command.
-
-
In some cases, shake the doors while pushing to help release the jam.
Additional Notes
-
Add spacers to the striker plate to prevent it from entering the lock too deeply.
-
This helps prevent jamming caused by excessive door force.
-
Contact Engineering for additional spacers.
